image Our consultants are industry practitioners and former government officials with an average of twenty four years experience in import, export and supply chain leadership at companies ranging from high-tech startups to Fortune 500 corporations. Industry backgrounds include biometrics, telecommunications, transportation, medical devices, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.  

James Anzalone is the president of Compliance Assurance LLC, a firm specializing in global trade compliance solutions. Mr. Anzalone has consulted firms of all sizes throughout the United States on the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR) and Customs & Border Protection (CBP) regulations.

For over 16 years, James has developed comprehensive compliance programs including commodity classification, license determination, 'know your customer' checks, development of corporate policies and procedures and employee training programs. As an independent consultant, he has assisted companies with their Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) registration, technology control plans, brokering activities, commodity jurisdiction, encryption control reviews, government mandated and internal audits and training, DDTC, BIS and OFAC licenses and a myriad of other import and export compliance challenges.

James was formerly the Vice President of Global Supply Chain at a leading company in the biometrics industry where he managed the end-to-end supply chain, including supply and demand planning, purchasing, warehousing, international logistics and trade compliance for operations in the U.S. and abroad. Prior to that, Mr. Anzalone has held the position of Trade Compliance Officer for the export division of a Fortune 100 corporation where he developed trade compliance programs for operations around the globe. James has also held similar positions in the telecommunications and transportation industry.

Mr. Anzalone regularly conducts public compliance training seminars as well as custom in-house workshops tailored to client requirements. He has spoken at major compliance and legal events including U.S. Dept. of Commerce sponsored seminars, the Export Compliance Forum in Alexandria, VA, and the 3rd Annual Export Controls Compliance Conference in PA.

Mr. Anzalone holds Master's Degree in International Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University and a B.S. Degree in Business Logistics from the Pennsylvania State University. He is an active member of the Society for International Affairs, the Export Controls Group, the Professional Association of Exporters and Importers, For Export Compliance Professionals, Trade, WorldTrade Canada - Import/Export, the South Florida Technology Alliance, and the South Florida Manufacturers Association.

James M. Anzalone

  Albert Saphir is a senior supply chain consultant with 30 years of management experience in international and domestic logistics, transportation management, trade compliance and supply chain security. He has worked for multinational and small companies during his career in the U.S. and Germany and has done extensive work related to global trade security initiatives such as C-TPAT, Advance Manifest Rules and the “10+2” Secure Freight initiative now known as Importer Security Filing (ISF).

He has broad transportation service, pricing and negotiation knowledge with ocean, air, truck and parcel shipping modes. Client projects often involve transportation RFP facilitation, freight and customs compliance audits, Free Zone evaluation and development and implementation of new logistics concepts to improve overall supply chain capabilities and efficiency. His record also includes many successful C-TPAT program implementations for importers and intermediaries. Currently he is actively helping importers to develop and implement compliant ISF programs. Not only do these ISF programs assist the importer with maximum compliance, but also greatly improve import supply chain visibility and can even lead to cost reductions of up to 80% compared to the initial ISF setup importers chose in the beginning.

He holds the German equivalent of a BS in International Transportation is fluent in German and is a licensed U.S. Customs Broker and CCS. He is an active member in multiple industry associations including AAEI, ICPA and NIT League. Albert is a frequent presenter at many different industry conference events and a contributor to numerous logistics and trade publications. He is also a senior contract consultant with Solertis Logistics Solutions and Braumiller Schulz LLP.

Albert Saphir

  Jennifer Saak, Ph.D. has over 20 years of experience in managing export controls compliance and conducting scientific research at Fortune 500 companies. Her expertise is in applying the U.S. export controls regulations to research and technology companies. She has deep experience in the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations. She has successfully assisted companies of all sizes with export compliance management programs and operational processes, export controls training, export classifications, deemed exports, technology control plans, and license and jurisdiction determination.

Jennifer provides training through various organizations including NCURA, AUECO, SRA International, Global Training Center, and the Export Compliance Training Institute (ECTI). She has 7 U.S. and international patents, 6 technical publications in peer-reviewed journals, and multiple management and innovation awards.

Jennifer has a Ph.D. in materials engineering from Northwestern University, a B.S. in materials engineering from Cornell University, and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt with a focus on business process improvements.

Jennifer Saak

  Alicia Gonzalez has over 21 years experience dealing in export letters of credit and international trade issues. Throughout her career, Alicia has worked with local exporters in export traffic management and in air freight forwarding operations management. Having worked for both transport and export companies, she has gained a unique insight and expertise on the detailed requirements of the export letter of credit evaluation, negotiation and bank presentation process.

Today Alicia is a consultant specializing in Export Letters of Credit. Her expertise also includes dealing with issues related to the TSA's Indirect Air Carrier Standard Security Program (IACSSP) in addition to offering export compliance departmental reviews and recommendations.

Alicia has a BA in Economics/Business from Rutgers University and is trained on current export management and compliance programs by the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security Export Management and Compliance Division.
